The New Testament Jezebel

Written by  Thursday, 16 April 2015 00:00

Jesus spoke to the church of Thyatira, “I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality ... I have given her time to repent... but she is unwilling.” Rev 2:20 – 21

Jesus talks about three issues, 1) the prophet Jezebel 2) The teachings of Jezebel, and 3) the tolerating church. Let’s start with the Prophet Jezebel

THE PROPHET JEZEBEL: Jezebel has changed tactic, no need for a separate worshipping place for Baal. She learned the concept of integration, and mainstreaming of Jezebelism into Christianity. She noticed that Christians love and respect prophets so much. So she called herself “Prophet Jezebel”… after all she has witchcraft skills! The Christians will clap for her once she starts to tell them their phone numbers…

THE TEACHING: The teaching of Jezebel is the same old trick she used in Elijah’s time! Her motto is clear, “Imprison the person in the name of sexual freedom” Only the last word is known to the wider public. Her tools are the same, she will call for a quiet rebellion where people will go to church, while exercising “freedom in Christ” which for her means "sexual freedom - doing whatever you want”. In the Old Testament, Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.” 1st Kings 18:21. This was a quiet rebellion! People don’t answer because the normal ceremonies of the temple are still going on… people entertain both opinions…In the same way the New Testament people start to live in harmony with two opposite opinions about sexual purity! As she has modernized, she uses the internet as a weapon of sexual freedom, people will be held captive of the pornographic witchcraft that will soon swallow them.

THE TOLERANCE: As Elijah quivered with fear when Jezebel threatened that she will kill him (1 King 19:2), she has ability to instill fear upon true prophets of God who try to challenge her. She knows how to harass and quieten any attempt to expose what is going on underground in the name of freedom. People tolerate to see men and women come to church as a meeting place for sexual immorality and prostitution. The church will tolerate when a city is changing into a major sex tourism destination…

SO WHAT DO WE DO?

Again, the needed action for Jezebel is the same both in the New Testament and in the Old Testament. 1) God will punish her severely as she is fearless and unwilling to repent 2) God has reserved 7,000 “whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.” (1 Kings 19:18)

Jesus said to the church affected by Jezebel’s teaching, “Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’ Rev 2:24 – 25

HOLD ON! Don’t give in… KEEP YOURSELF AWAY FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY!

When you see that nude picture calling you on the internet to open and explore, do not bow down to it!

Do not start that undefined relation, you think you are being romantic, but you may be kissing Baal

What about those who are already in it? REPENT URGENTLY!

Jesus said, "...and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways." Rev 2:22

Think and reflect…

Is there Prophet Jezebel in the church? Is there teaching of Jezebel in the church? Is there tolerance to Jezebel?

Am I among the defiant, among those who refuse to kneel down, among those whom Jesus says, “hold on to what you have!”?

"The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body" 1 Cor 6:13

Jezebel is dangerous! She will imprison the person in the name of sexual freedom!

"Flee from sexual immorality." 1 Cor 6:18
